What can I do with a cotton fabric coupon?

Buying a fabric coupon can be interesting when you're just starting out in sewing, or when you're trying out a new type of fabric (e.g. coated cotton) or when you want to try out a new pattern or color. It's also an excellent gift idea for seamstresses or future seamstresses!
Whether you've bought a 35 cm, 50 cm or 1 m fabric coupon, there are many possible sewing projects. Kit, pouch, placemat, patchwork...To start with, you need to check the width of the fabric coupon you've selected. The width varies from 130 to 150 cm, depending on the coupon.
With Papa Pique and Maman Coud fabric coupons, you can make your own pouches (cell phone pouches, small pouches, ceremonial pouches, etc.), card holders, placemats, washable dishcloths, and more. You can also buy coupons to sew the reverse side of make-up remover squares or make bee wraps.
For your children or grandchildren, you can use our cotton and coated cotton fabric coupons to make a purse, a fabric key ring, headbands, scrunchies, an eyewear case, fabric storage baskets, a tote bag, a pencil case and many other fabric projects...
There are so many possibilities! Discover our 35 cm coated cotton coupons and our 50 cm and 1m cotton coupons.

How to protect your fabric coupons?

Remember, fabric is resistant to sunlight, moisture and insects. Sunlight can discolor certain fabrics, so it's best to store your coupons away from light. High humidity can also damage your fabric coupons. When humidity is high (in a cellar, a garage, a poorly insulated attic or a seaside residence), the fibers swell, absorbing water vapor; when humidity is low, the fabric fibers shrink, letting it escape. But some textiles react in the opposite way. The swelling of the fibers causes them to shrink, especially along the warp threads. Another consequence of humidity is mildew! When humidity exceeds 70%, mold can develop within 3 months, creating stains that are impossible to remove. If humidity levels exceed 90%, your fabrics can be pricked in just a few days. It is therefore strongly recommended to store your coupons away from humidity. Another danger for your fabric coupons is insects (moths, beetles) that feed on fabric fibers. Cedar, mint and clove are good moth repellents. Cedar is also effective against beetles.
Papa Pique et Maman Coud advises you to keep your fabric coupons in a closed place, away from light and humidity, with cedar bark and other natural repellents nearby.

How to store your cotton fabric coupons?

You can keep your fabric coupons in their original packaging and arrange them on the shelves of a closed cupboard. If you haven't kept the packaging, you can store your fabric coupons in filing boxes or wrap them around a cardboard roll (rolls of gift wrap, plastic film or aluminum foil that you've kept).
Finally, if you have a large volume of coupons, you'll need to organize them to find your way around! You can sort them as you see fit, by fabric type (cotton and coated cotton), by color or even by season!
